About the thoracic part of the trapezius of the dog

Thoracic part of the trapezius is a muscle of the spine (vertebral column), one on each side of the body. Its name in the Nomina Anatomica Veterinaria is Musculus trapezius pars thoracica. Separated from the cervical part by an aponeurosis over the spine. You can turn it above, see it in place in the spine of the dog, and open it inside the whole animal in Vetomica.

Where it runs from and to

A muscle is told apart from its neighbours by what it takes hold of at each end, which is also what decides what it does when it shortens.

Origin
Median cervical raphe plus the supraspinous ligament over the cranial thoracic spines.
Insertion
Spine of the scapula, the cervical part toward its dorsal end.
Action
Raises the forelimb and swings the scapula cranially or caudally against the trunk.
Nerve
Dorsal branch of the accessory nerve.

Written for Vetomica in its own words from the standard reference anatomy of the dog; the books it was checked against are listed below.
