  • Paired: left and right
  • Pig

Carries the trochlea that the tibia rocks on, which is the hinge of the hock.

About the talus of the pig

Talus is a bone of the back leg (pelvic limb), one on each side of the body. You can turn it above, see it in place in the back leg of the pig, and open it inside the whole animal in Vetomica.

Measured on the specimen

What the talus is in contact with in the model itself, with the share of the other structure’s surface it covers. A contact is not always a joint: bones that simply lie against one another are in this list too.

Measured on the left side.

See the talus inside the whole pig.

Vetomica opens on this structure with every layer of the pig around it: peel back the skin and the muscles, cut a section through it, X-ray it, and practise naming it until you stop getting it wrong.
